Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act: S.5829
With ink barely dry on the Supreme Court PBA decision, Governor Spitzer submitted his Program Bill #16. He claimed the U.S. Supreme Court decision threatens �a woman�s right to choose and her privacy.� Governor Spitzer said his bill was designed �to enshrine a woman�s fundamental right to make reproductive health decisions �� Sadly, the bill would:
On May 14th, the Senate Rules Committee introduced S.5829 and referred it to the Senate Health Committee. Senate voting has not yet been done. Introduction in the pro-abortion majority Assembly has not yet occurred but will be done easily when the Assembly is reconvened.
This measure contradicts the will of a majority of people. In an April, 2007, nationwide NY Times/CBS News poll, 64% of those polled responded that abortion should either have stricter limits or be prohibited.
