Other Florida influences in the Terri Schiavo case

Many people are puzzled by the rulings coming out of the Florida court where Terri Schindler-Schiavos fate is being determined.  It has seemed as though almost every piece of information that speaks in favor of treatment and rehabilitation for Terri is discarded, leaving only the information presented by Michael Schiavo as the basis for court decisions.

An article in the Empire Journal, a website containing articles on happenings in court systems around the US, a suggestion is made that because of personal and professional relationships in the Florida court system there is much outside influence that is going into the decisions made in Terris case and all of that influence is in favor of euthanasia.

This article presents much factual-sounding information that, if true, would explain why the decisions dont seem to depend on the information the rest of us are seeing as presented.  For instance, it contains these statements:  the lead attorney George Felos was formerly a member of the Board of directors of the hospice where Terri now lives, a hospice where she should not have been allowed to enter because she is not terminally ill.  He is in favor of euthanasia.  Most of the members of Michael Schiavos legal team made campaign donations to the last election campaign of Judge Greer, who allegedly raised a record amount of money to conduct his campaign.  Many of the other players in the drama also donated to Judge Greers campaign.

Many people have also been puzzled at the lack public support on the part of the local Catholic diocese.  Rather than coming to the defense of the helpless and insisting that Terri be fed until and unless she dies, the diocese has rather simply tended to state the church norms.  Its as though the diocese is assuming that Michaels statements are correct and labelling the case as simply an internal family matter.  The Empire Journal states that the general counsel for the diocese is a firm that donated the maximum amount ($500) to the campaign of Judge Greer.

Private communications and unspoken general knowledge may be the only explanation for some of the more puzzling happenings of the saga of Terri Schiavo.

In any case, read the article yourself and see what you think.  http://theempirejournal.com/03010507_SCHIAVO_JUDGE_GREER_SUPPORTED_BY_POLITICS_RELIGION_IN_DEATH_ORDER.htm
